Seicento Baroque Ensemble
Czech Mate! Concert for Singers, Strings and Sackbuts

Seicento presents Czech Mate!, a grand accounting of the role of sackbuts (Renaissance trombones) in early baroque music for cathedral services, street processions, and festivals throughout continental Europe. Presenting choral music from the 17th century library of the Kromeríž Archives (now located in the Czech Republic), Seicento is joined by members of the Washington Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble and Amsterdam-based baroque violinist Mimi Mitchell, with guest vocal soloists Amanda Balestrieri, Marjorie Bunday and a yet-to-be-announced singer, our Apprentice Artist funded by a Community Arts Fund grant from the Boulder County Arts Alliance. The unique and beautiful repertoire is mostly unpublished and includes composers Rittler, Mielczewski and Carissimi.
