MB Krueger, mezzo soprano
MB Krueger, mezzo soprano, earned her bachelor's degree in music education and voice at Michigan State University (1990), where she was a National Merit Scholar. She received her masters degree in music education with an emphasis in choral conducting from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio (1995).
While at Miami, MB founded and conducted a chamber ensemble of women's voices and was chorusmaster for Miami's production of Le Nozze di Figaro.
She began her teaching career in Michigan as a high school choir director, and after two years, went on to teach at Lansing Community College, where she directed 3 choirs, taught class piano and studio voice, and music directed musical theatre productions.
For 4 years, MB directed the choir at Lansing's St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, and revived its flagging music program.
Currently, MB is the Acting Director of Choral Activities at Metropolitan State College of Denver, where she directs the Women's Choir and Women's Chamber Choir, teaches conducting, and music directs musical theatre productions.
She has been teaching at Metro since 1997, and has performed as a soloist on a number of joint faculty recitals, Metro's performance of the Mozart Requiem, and a solo recital featuring British and American art song of the early to mid 20th century, to name a few.
MB is a member of the board of directors of the Colorado chapter of the American Choral Directors Association, and is the editor of the CoACDA newsletter.
She has music directed over 30 shows, including Into the Woods (Metro), La Cage aux Folles (Riverwalk Theatre, Lansing, Michigan), Forever Plaid (Boarshead Theatre, Lansing, Michigan), Man of LaMancha (Riverwalk and Metro), The Secret Garden (Metro), Amahl and the Night Visitors (Metro and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Denver) and dozens more.
MB has also conducted and accompanied a number of church choirs and community choirs, including at Trinity United Methodist Church, the Rocky Mountain Chorale, the Colorado Music Festival Chorus, and others.
MB is a member of St. Martin's Chamber Choir and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Choir, and has also sung professionally with the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, the Santa Fe Opera, and the Ars Nova Singers.
She has been a featured soloist with the Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado, Santa Fe Desert Chorale, Boulder Bach Festival, Diverse Passions Early Music Ensemble, and on several performances and commercial CD recordings with St. Martin's Chamber Choir.
