Nancy Ekberg
Nancy Ekberg received her B.A. from Colorado College. She
completed graduate studies at the Lamont School of Music at the University
of Denver in 1983, earning her degree in the Orff Schulwerk Certification
Program. From 1979-89 she composed the soundtracks for Kids Corner, Ltd.,
a pediatric education company which sold award-winning programs in the
United States, Australia, Saudi Arabia and Canada. In l998 she was the
musical director and composer for the University of Colorado at Colorado
Springs' TheaterWorks production of "She Stoops to Conquer". From
1988-1998 Nancy studied recorder with Eva Legene in the summers. Currently
Nancy teaches recorder and directs the Colorado College Early Music Wind
Ensemble, a part of the Collegium Musicum at Colorado College. Most
recently she is writing and arranging music for a series of plays written
by Donna Guthrie and performed in California, New York and Indiana. The
first, "The Wedding Trunk", premiered at Smokebrush Theater in 2000. Her
recorder ensemble, Amuse, performs throughout Colorado and has been
coached by Bart Spanhov of the Begium Flanders Recorder
Quartet.
